From our flagship bookstore on the island of Hydra, Greece —
We present and sell a thoroughly researched anthology of literary work by the community of Greek and international writers present on Hydra from the 1930s to the present, and we explore an annual theme through research, presentation of new literary work, readings and events.
We edit and publish the Journal of the Hydra Book Club, an annual printed edition of over 200 pages of fiction, poetry, essay, and image which includes contributions from prominent writers, artists, curators, critics, and philosophers.
The Hydra Book Club Editions include literature, literature in translation, artist books, and limited edition artist zines. A second periodical, Glotta, is an annual collection of thematic essays and fiction - the alter-ego of the Journal.
Sewer Lock, by Peter Thickett, with illustrations by Grzegorz Polański, published in September 2025, is the first in a new series from authors and visual artists linked to the island.
In October 2025, we initiated a collaboration with the Library Residency program, creating a new opportunity for writers to create work on Hydra.
The Book Club together with our editions and residency program are the manifestations of our deep commitment to the literary heritage and future of the island of Hydra and contemporary writers and artists worldwide.
